On Friday 18th September, we held our second charity golf day at Cardiff Golf Club and raised over £3,000 for local charity, Realise your Potential.
The day, which was sponsored by Rumney Funeral Home was attended by over 70 local people and businesses and included a round of golf, raffle and charity auction.
Amongst the auction prizes was a rugby ball signed by recently injured Welsh rugby star, Rhys Webb along with a photograph of the scrum-half signing the ball with his leg in a cast.
Francesca Coles, Manager of CanDo Lettings said: “We’re thrilled to have been able to raise over £3,000 for Realise your Potential – a local charity that supports people into work, education and training. Their work aligns itself very closely with the work that we do in helping our tenants to create sustainable tenancies.”
The money raised will be used to set up a training bursary for Realise your Potential members.
“The cost of training and courses is very often the main barrier that stops many individuals becoming work ready,” said Alessa Hill, Employment and Training Co-ordinator at Realise your Potential. “This financial assistance will give members the best chance of making significant life changes.”
The golf day also raised £675 towards ongoing fundraising to help support refugees. Proceeds from three of the auction prizes were donated in aid of the recent humanitarian crisis.
